The downside of being a good white dancer.
I will start this by saying there may only be two people left on this earth that will remember this story. One of the people who constantly reminded me it happened was a good friend named Matt Mullin who passed a couple years back. The only reason I am putting this up is to make him smile wherever he is. In high school Matt and I would be at many of the same dances, formals and proms together usually in the same group. This one in particular was a Notre Dame formal my freshman year that started terribly by me saying i couldn't go with one girl and then another girl asked me and I said yes. Well, Karma sure is a bitch. Matt would always be halfway through the night until he'd start bugging me to dance. I am, as most of you know, the greatest (white) dancer on the face of the earth including Wade Robson. But on this night, destiny would catch up with me. So, typical... suburban girls start a circle (lame), and Matt gives me the look like "come on man, get in there." But, right before I could jump in an African American fellow decided it was his turn. Halfway through I realized I am a way better dancer then him and I suppose I offered him out, as to say... DANCE OFF! So we are going back and forth with each other and it is obvious that I am in the lead, unfortunately there were only about 5 black guys there that were all friends with him. And as I am wowing the crowd with my happy feet I hear (barely), one of his friends yell, and I quote,"Give em da Dick suck." Barely hearing this i didn't really think about it much because I was so happy I was kicking this kids ass. But then, good god then, this kid grabbed my head when I wasn't looking and started thrusting his pelvis violently at my face while he was pulling my head towards it, back and forth. I went from king of the mountain to typical white bol in 5 seconds. This started a little tussle because I was not happy about it and Mullin came out of nowhere and pushed some kid to the ground, but the fight was broken up and we went about our night. It ended up being a solid night, except the whole time I keep reliving what was to be considered my unraveling on the dance floor. And as all of us were laying in a basement after the formal, drunk as can be with no sound coming from anywhere!!!!!!! All you hear is Mullin giggle and scream, GIVE EM DA DICK SUCK!!!! And we laughed a hardy laugh. Those, those are the times i miss, even though I was the butt of the, well... whole entire private school system, Mullin saying that made me smile and laugh at myself. And if i didn't learn that night to laugh at myself my life would be much harder to this day. Thank you Matt, I miss you. And if you're listening I still have nightmares about the dance move that will forever be called "the dick suck."
